Omaha Shamrocks vs Lincoln City Rugby Saturday 18th of October 2008 Omaha ,Ne This will be the last home game for the Shamrocks this year and the team wants to win this one to end the season with a win. It's hard to believe that we are nearly at the end of the year with all the excitement going on but if there is any game to watch it's this one. Lincoln was the Shamrocks first match ever and the the showed it by getting beaten 73-0. Lincoln came out with guns blazing and showed no mercy to the newbies. Terry the first center from Lincoln dominated the game scoring 3 tries and running over players in the process. The second meeting between these two teams was in Lincoln on March 8th 2008. This was the ice match because all I remember about that game was the cold... and the score. This one ended with another loss for the Shamrocks with the final score 40-7. It was a loss but most are excited since in our second meeting we were able cut the score in half from the last game. So if we carry on cutting scores in half we can expect Lincoln to put up 20 points on Saturday which means the Shamrocks could actually win this one with their high powered offense which has put up major points this season. So what will it take to beat Lincoln? We decided to ask George Paunganwa how his team will beat Lincoln and he said this. "Lincoln City is a very good club with great players and coaching so winning this game will take our very best effort. I believe we have the talent on our team but for us to take this game every player has to make it their responsibility to win. We should have won every game this season but we didn't because we didn't do things that we were capable of doing. I can tell you one thing and that is that I'm going to come out with guns blazin'. This is going to be my best performance in my career because I want to win more than ever. I am taking full responsibility for the Shamrocks because I know there will be 14 guys out there that are upset about the losses we had this year as much as I am. Expect to see our forwards do some amazing things this weekend, and expect some serious defense. So the answer to the question is yes I believe we will win because we are the Shamrocks and we represent the City of Omaha and we have great fans who will be there to give us the extra edge." |
